I am the founder of DxE UK and member of the London chapter. We have been doing monthly non violent actions across the UK since October 2013. We eventually based ourselves in London as this is where the majority of the Direct Action Everywhere targets are. For instance Amazon and Whole Foods.

What is DxE’s objective? To achieve revolutionary social and political change for animals in one generation. We have also just introduced Rose’s Law.

Why direct action? “Nonviolent direct action seeks to create such a crisis and foster such a tension that a community which has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront the issue. It seeks so to dramatise the issue that it can no longer be ignored.” ( Martin Luther King, Jr., Letter from a Birmingham Jail)

These are our main directives. I was inspired to reach out to Direct Action Everywhere when it began in the early months of 2013 after watching the Berkley chapter do a direct action. That could not be ignored. They challenged vegans/activists to follow their suit. Which we did and after our first action in Birmingham City UK we then signed up to become the official UK chapter leaders of non violent direct action. This has since slowly spread across the UK and more rapidly across the world.
