Wealth of information for budding vegans and activists to take home from 7th year annual vegan festival at Olympia London

30th July 2019

The support for both new vegans and vegan activists has always been of prime importance at previous VegfestUK events down the years, with various summits, presentations and panel discussions catering for the needs of these two rapidly expanding demographs. This year, at the upcoming 7th year annual vegan festival at Olympia London on October 26-27, the event will play host to a new area on Saturday offering Vegan Activists Support, which on Sunday turns into a hub for New Vegans Support.

Taking place on Level 3 (Olympia Conference Centre), both featured areas provide budding vegans and vegan activists with the support that they may find useful to continue respectively being vegan and being active in spreading the vegan word in their own communities. All are welcome.

Vegan Activists Support – Saturday

Budding vegan activists looking to make a difference in their communities will be armed with suggestions and advice on preventing common activists symptoms such as burnout (physical, mental and emotional) and isolation. This area is of real value to activists looking for that extra support from like-minded people who would like to start promoting veganism with their own initiatives.

In addition, Dr. Casey Taft, co-founder of Vegan Publishers, will be delivering a talk on Motivational Methods for Animal Advocacy, which will focus on how to most effectively motivate others to go vegan, from a behavioural change perspective. Principles and tactics from clinical psychology with a long history of innovation and research evaluation have not been brought into the animal advocacy realm. This talk will focus on how we can be more impactful communicators and advocates.

New Vegans Support – Sunday

This new area offers tips and advice on staying vegan and enjoying a vegan way of life, with answers to FAQ’s on veganism such as where to get the commonly asked nutrients such as protein, iron, calcium, vitamin B12, tips for not steering away from veganism in situations away from our comfort zone, such as being in different countries where vegan food is not as accessible, and answers to many other challenging subjects for new vegans.

In addition, Dr. Casey Taft will be speaking about Millennial Vegan. Millennials, people between the ages of 15 and 34, make up nearly half of the current vegan population. Despite being dealt a bad deal by prior generations, this generation is increasingly able to see past all the ways our society indoctrinates us to use nonhuman animals. Based on Dr. Taft’s latest book of the same title, this talk offers support to this important group by providing tips for advocacy, strategies for communicating with unsupportive peers, dealing with bullying and managing anger, advice on issues related to dating, and information on maintaining personal well-being.

Visitors to this area will walk away from the event well equipped with plenty of information that they require to be vegan, remain vegan or start taking steps towards being vegan.

All are welcome, from complete beginners to veganism or those already vegan who would like that extra support to stay the course.
